Concerning Ms. V.B.S.K vs. Denmark violation of CEDAW articles 1, 2, 3, 12, 15, 16 and general comments No. 12 and 19.

The author is a christian and in 2009 she met a Hindu man Mr. R. They wanted to have a relationship but they were both attacked by the author’s parents. The author’s parents then tried to force the author to marry a christian man but she escaped and fled to Denmark.

The immigrations service rejected her application for asylum and the Refugee Board upheld that refusal on 19th July 2013 as they found the author’s statements to be inconsistent and incredible. A complaint was sent to CEDAW and they declared the communication to be inadmissible as the author had not provided any detailed information regarding death threats that she allegedly received from her family members.
